betti dfm fill
Estimate how a part fills as it is injection moulded, from its shape alone: from the gates, given or placed, where the melt reaches when through the walls, slowed as they thin; where it meets itself (weld lines) and where it reaches last from all round (air traps); written as tetrahedra with the fill at their points.
Usage
betti dfm fill [flags] in out.vtuFrom the shape alone, with no material, so times are relative, with no seconds or pressures. in is a closed mesh or a STEP, IGES, JT or Parasolid part.
out.vtu holds the fields: filled (the share of the part filled when the melt arrives), time, wall, gate, weld and flow_length.
In a script this is dfm.fill(…), its flags as keywords; for coding agents, the tool dfm_fill.
Examples
betti dfm fill housing.stl fill.vtu
betti dfm fill -gates 2 housing.stl fill.vtu
betti dfm fill -gate 0,10,1 -gate 100,10,1 plate.step fill.vtu
betti dfm fill -json part.obj fill.vtu > fill.jsonFlags
| Flag | Takes | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
-gate | point | -gates placed | a gate point, x,y,z, moved to the nearest of the surface; as many as given |
-gates | integer | 1 | how many gates to place on each body, where no -gate is given: those of the shortest longest flow |
-meet-angle | number | 45 | the least angle, in degrees, between flows meeting for a weld line; shallower, they meld |
-size | length | 2% of the part's size | the cells' edge length, such as 2 or 1% |
Output flags
| Flag | Takes | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
-json | switch | off | print the result as JSON |
-q | switch | off | print nothing but errors |
-skip | names | none | switch off steps of the work by their names, separated by commas, as the built-in help lists them |
-v | switch | off | also show the stages of each step, and their times |
