Usage
betti run [flags] in out [step [+ step]...]
Run steps one after another on a mesh kept in memory, and write the last one's mesh to out, as in
betti run part.stl out.obj fix repair + mesh remesh -size 1% + shape defeature -size 2
betti run part.stl out.obj -recipe clean-for-print.txtA step is a command with its flags; it reads the mesh the step before made. info and additive thickness report on the mesh as it is; save mid.obj writes it as it is. A recipe has one step to a line; # starts a comment.
Steps
| info | what a mesh is: size, parts, holes, crossings, element quality |
|---|---|
| particles fill | fill a solid with particles, or line its surface, for SPH and other particle methods |
| particles clump | approximate a solid by overlapping spheres of varying size, for DEM |
| particles spheres | fill a container with spheres of given sizes, touching neither each other nor the walls, for a DEM packed bed |
| fix repair | orient parts outward, fill holes and remove self-intersections |
| fix orient | turn parts over so that their faces show their front to the outside |
| fix shell | keep only the outermost surface, nothing inside it |
| mesh remesh | remesh into even triangles, or quads |
| shape hollow | hollow a solid out to a shell, with drain holes |
| shape offset | the surface at a distance outside or inside a solid |
| shape defeature | remove small holes, pockets, bosses and text |
| additive place | turn a part to print with the least support, and set it on the bed |
| additive slice | cut a part into layers for printing: outlines as SVG, images as PNG, or 3MF slices |
| fix denoise | remove noise, as from a scan, keeping sharp edges |
| additive thickness | measure wall thickness and find thin walls |
| box | the smallest box in any orientation holding a part, as for stock, packing and shipping |
| cad primitives | the planes, cylinders, cones, spheres and tori a part's faces lie on, with their sizes |
| mesh midsurface | the mid-surface of thin walls, with their thickness, for shell elements |
| shape decompose | split a solid into convex hulls, as for collision detection |
| shape boolean | combine two solids |
| fix reconstruct | rebuild a mesh broken throughout from samples of its outside |
| fix wrap | wrap any input in a closed, valid surface just outside it |
| save | write the mesh as it is to a file: save mid.obj |
betti help <step> shows a step's flags; shape boolean takes its operation and the other solid, as in shape boolean union b.stl.
Flags
| Flag | Takes | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| -recipe | text | none | a file of steps, one to a line, run before those given here |
Output flags
| Flag | Takes | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| -json | switch | off | print the result as JSON |
| -q | switch | off | print nothing but errors |
| -v | switch | off | also show the stages of each step, and their times |
This page is generated from betti help run. Lengths are absolute, or a percentage of the part's bounding-box diagonal, as in -size 1%.
