Volume On request Preview
Volume meshes for simulation, from a closed surface or a CAD part.
volume tet fills a closed surface, or a STEP, IGES, JT or Parasolid part, with tetrahedra for finite elements: a region for each solid, boundary faces tagged as the surface's regions, sizes and shapes bounded, sharp edges and corners kept. With -order 2 the tetrahedra are quadratic and curved onto the true boundary, the CAD surfaces or a smooth surface through a mesh's own triangles, and every cell is checked valid. With -layers it adds prism layers on walls.
volume poly fills a closed surface with polyhedra for finite volumes, with prism layers on walls too. volume hex fills a closed surface or CAD part with hexahedra only, for finite elements, its sharp edges and corners kept. volume info says what a volume mesh is: its cells by kind, regions and boundary tags, whether it is valid, and its quality.
Volume meshes are read and written as Gmsh, VTK, Abaqus (.inp), Nastran (.nas, .bdf) and OpenFOAM (a polyMesh folder).
The volume module is a preview: its meshes are checked valid, and their quality is still improving. It is granted on request, free for non-commercial use; see access and licensing.
